Mobility Technologiesは2月1日、トヨタ自動車の自動運転車両「e-Palette」によるモビリティサービス実証実験を2022年2月17日～3月10日の期間、東京臨海副都心・お台場エリアにて実施すると発表した。
e-Paletteの運行ルートは、シンボルプロムナード公園内のセンタープロムナード（ヴィーナスフォート前）～セントラル広場（ダイバーシティ東京前）間を往復する1周約10分。実施期間は2022年2月17日～3月10日の期間中、運休日を除く12日間の10時～16時30分
自動運転車は既存の自動車メーカーだけでなく、Googleも参戦するなど競争が激しくなっています。Googleが一歩先を行っているかなと思っていましたが、トヨタが実証実験の段階に入るのは驚きです。また、2024年に大阪万博も控えており、より世界に技術をアピールすべく企業は競い合うでしょう。
全て自動運転車に置き換われば、事故も減るように思いますが、急な飛び出しや予想外の出来事にどこまで対応できるのか不安要素は多く残ります。
しかし、自動運転は踏み間違いなどの事故数を大きく減少させ、ドライバーが高齢になっても車を運転できるようになるのではないでしょうか？
また、自動運転は他の車との距離感やスピードを測るために多くのデータが共有されることも予測され、インターネットや通信速度の向上にも大きく期待できようになると考えます。プライバシーの保護や事故時の責任の所在など問題は山積みでしょうが、近未来を早く体験したいという気持ちには勝てませんね。
