2018年から、高級リゾート「ソネバフシ」とタッグを組んで、本屋「ベアフット・ブックセラーズ」を手掛けるのはイギリスの「Ultimate Library」。さまざまなホテル、リゾート、個人宅、店舗のために、オーダーメイドのブックコレクションなどを提供している会社だ。今回の求人に合わせ、次のようにコメントしている。「本と海と砂浜に囲まれて暮らすことは、普遍的に魅力的な夢。この本屋は、知的好奇心を刺激する、楽しいアイディアであふれています。今年はさらに新しいプロジェクトを立ち上げ、読書の喜びを島での生活や文化により深く浸透させたいと考えています」
本屋の店員とは思えないぐらいのスペックが求められる中でも、多くの募集が殺到しているようです。
「優れた英語力」「古典文学と現代文学の両方への深い知識」「書籍販売や出版に携わった経験」「SNS運営やトレンドの把握に対する深い知識」「ブログやニュースレターの執筆経験」「チームプレイヤーであり、なおかつ自ら率先して自発的に行動できる人」この条件はトップ企業に求められる人材では！？とも思いますが、お金よりも働き甲斐や生きがいを重視する人が増えている証拠かもしれません。
日本でもリゾート地と呼ばれるところに本屋があれば、必然的に人が集まるのかなと思ったりします。
例えば、夏の避暑地での滞在者に向けたものであったり、海辺で子供が遊んでいる間の小一時間過ごせる場所であったりと隙間時間を活用できるサービスがあればいいのかなと思います。
今の時代スマホで暇な時間をつぶすことは可能ですが、それ以外にも時間を有効活用したいと思っている人向けには良いのかもしれません。
