Today's blurbs 3/16

Today's blabbermouth would like to think about the "current situation of teachers in school education.

What is your impression of school teachers?

For better or worse, I had no likes or dislikes toward my teachers, basically "nothing" feelings.

Perhaps that is why I was able to get along so well with my homeroom teacher changing every year in elementary school and my club advisor changing every year in high school.

In such a situation, what I am concerned about is the position teachers are placed in.

In our own parents' generation, teachers were absolute beings, and the word "corporal punishment" was not used, I can only speculate that many of them were highly passionate teachers.

Hiromitsu Tojo, the Kagoshima Prefectural Board of Education's Superintendent of Education, announced on April 4 that he had been diagnosed with a mental illness from April 2021 to February The number of public school teachers and staff (excluding municipal high schools) who took a leave of absence in February 2012 was 87, or 0.5% of the total. The answer was given in a general question at the prefectural assembly.

By school type, there were 33 elementary school teachers, 32 junior high school teachers, 14 high school teachers, and 8 special needs teachers. In terms of age, 11 were in their 20s, 13 were in their 30s, 4 22 were in their 0s, and 41 were in their 50s. Reasons included learning and student teaching concerns, interpersonal relationships at work and with parents. The Teachers' Section states that it will "support teachers and staff so that they can work with peace of mind.

I feel that the public has been overreacting to "corporal punishment" in recent years.

It is true that "corporal punishment" may not be a good idea, but isn't it strange in general to have a situation where students are deliberately agitated and provoked, or where students raise their hands but teachers do not go quietly and accept them? In addition, if the students are in public schools, they cannot be expelled based on the teacher's or school's decision, and they will insist that they have the "right to an education".

This will obviously decrease the number of people who want to become teachers.

It is certain that the ratio of employment examinations will decrease year by year and that the quality of classrooms will not be ensured.

In addition, the more people who aspire to become teachers and work hard, the higher the probability that they will take a leave of absence or leave the profession due to despair over the gap between the reality and the aspirations of those who have made the effort. This is not limited to teachers but is common to all civil servants, but we sometimes hear such a line as "Citizens pay taxes, so you should be a public servant.

Isn't this wrong?

Certainly, public officials are funded by taxes, but they are citizens and pay taxes. And if they did not perform their duties, would they not be able to protect the safe and smooth lives of citizens?

I hope that we can make progress starting with a change in awareness in the field of education to build a society that respects and honors each other as "a job to protect the present and the future.
