一度は「雨乞い」をしたことがあるのではないでしょうか。
絶対に明日学校に行きたくないときなど状況は様々だと思いますが、てるてる坊主をさかさまにしたことがあるという人もいるかもしれません。
この物語では雨の代わりに”クラゲ”が空から降ってきます。
「そんなことあるわけない」そう切り捨てるかもしれません。
しかし、この物語を読み終えた時にはもしかしたら....
あらすじ
高校二年生の越前亨（えちぜんとおる）は、感情の起伏が少なく、何に対しても誰に対しても思い入れを持つことがあまりない。父親を病気で亡くしてからはワーカホリックな母と二人で暮らしており、父親が残した本を一冊ずつ読み進めている。亨は、売れなかった作家で、最後まで家族に迷惑をかけながら死んだ父親のある言葉に、ずっと囚われている。
図書委員になった彼は、後輩の小崎優子（こさきゆこ）と出会う。彼女は毎日、屋上でくらげ乞いをしている。雨乞いのように両手を広げて空を仰いで、「くらげよ、降ってこい！」と叫んでいるのだ。いわゆる、不思議ちゃんである。
くらげを呼ぶために奮闘する彼女を冷めた目で見、距離を取りながら亨は日常を適当にこなす。八月のある日、亨は小崎が泣いているところを見かける。そしてその日の真夜中、クラゲが降った。逸る気持ちを抑えられず、亨は小崎のもとへ向かうが、小崎は「何の意味もなかった」と答える。納得できない亨だが、いつの間にか彼は、自分が小崎に対して興味を抱いていることに気づく。
この物語の中には多くの小説が登場します。文豪と呼ばれる作品から最近の小説に至るまで幅広く登場し、”本についての小説”とも表現できるのではないでしょうか。
物語の多くは学校の図書室の中で進んでいくことからも明白です。

Synopsis.
Toru Echizen, a high school sophomore, has few emotional ups and downs, and has little feeling for anything or anyone. Since his father died of illness, he lives with his workaholic mother and reads his father's books one by one. Toru has been haunted by certain words of his father, an unsuccessful writer who died, causing trouble for his family until the very end.
He becomes a member of the library committee and meets a junior student, Yuko Kosaki (Yuko Kosaki). Every day she begs for jellyfish on the rooftop. She opens her arms to the sky as if begging for rain and cries out, "Jellyfish, come down! She cries out, "Jellyfish, come on down! She is what we call a wonder child.
Toru watches her struggle to call the jellyfish with cold eyes, keeping his distance from her and going about his daily routine as best he can. One day in August, Toru sees Kozaki crying. Then, at midnight that day, it rained jellyfish. Unable to suppress his feelings, Toru goes to see Kozaki, but Kozaki replies, "It didn't mean anything. Toru is unconvinced, but before long he realizes that he has developed an interest in Ozaki.
Many novels appear in this story. It could be described as a "novel about books," as it includes a wide range of works from the great writers to more recent novels.
This is evident in the fact that most of the stories take place in the school library.
