今日のボヤキは昨日観た劇団四季「ロボット・イン・ザ・ガーデン」についてです。
劇団四季は中学の修学旅行で「ライオンキング」を観たのが最初でした。
観る前はミュージカルなんて...という気持ちが強かったのですが、いざ始まってみると釘付けになり、体の芯まで震えるような体験をしたのを覚えています。
その劇団四季から、16年ぶりに完全新作が出るということで京都劇場に行ってきました。
あらすじ
アンドロイドが人間に代わって家事や仕事を行う、今からそう遠くない未来。
イギリスの田舎町に住むベンは両親を事故で失って以来、無気力な日々を過ごしていた。
妻・エイミーとの夫婦仲もうまくいかない。
そんなある日、庭に壊れかけのロボットが現れる。
「きみの名前は？」「…タング」
ロボットに不思議な魅力を感じ、ベンはあれこれと世話を焼く。
そんなベンに愛想を尽かし、ついに家を出て行くエイミー。
ショックを受けるベンだが、タングを修理するため旅に出ることを決意する。
アメリカ、そして日本へ。やがて、ある事実が明らかになる……。

感想
やはりすごかった！その言葉につきますね...w素人なので、細かいことはわかりませんが、ドラマや映画では感じることができない表現力や歌唱力が直に伝わってきます。
特に、今作で印象に残ったのは主に2点。
1点目は、ロボットの「タング」を男女2人で一役であるという難しさ、また声だけでなく、動作の効果音も機械音でなく実際の口から発せられた音であるという難しさがあったと思います。
その中でも印象的だったのはセリフや場面に合わせた「目」の動きです。
リアルタイムでロボットに命が吹き込まれていく姿は感動的でした。
2点目は、ミュージカルはもう一度がない一発勝負の中、今作は1人が何役もこなしていたことです。場面や役数のわりにキャストが少なく、セリフや場面ごとの役作りが見事でした。これは、意図的に演出されたもので、主人公ベンの世界観を表すためだと製作スタッフが語っていました。
そのほかにもミュージカルならではの良さ、今作ならではの良さが多くあります。
4/16までは京都劇場、それ以降5月からは全国で公演があるようなので、是非チェックしてみてください。
原作の小説も読み次第また感想を書きたいと思います。

Today's blurb is about the Shiki Theater Company's "Robot in the Garden," which I saw yesterday.
I first saw the Shiki Theater Company when I saw "The Lion King" on a school excursion in junior high school.
Before I saw the show, I thought that a musical was... But once the show started, I was glued to the stage, and I remember that it was an experience that shook me to my very core.
I went to the Kyoto Theater to see the first completely new production in 16 years by the Shiki Theatre Company.
Synopsis
It is not far from now when androids will replace humans to do household chores and work in the future.
Ben, who lives in a rural town in England, has been apathetic ever since his parents were killed in an accident.
He and his wife, Amy, are having marital difficulties.
One day, a broken robot appears in his garden.
What is your name? Tang.
Ben finds the robot strangely attractive and takes care of it.
Amy is fed up with Ben and finally leaves home.
Ben is shocked but decides to go on a trip to repair Tang.
He goes to the U.S. and then to Japan. Eventually, a fact comes to light. ......

Impressions
It was still amazing! That's the word... ...wAs an amateur, I don't know the details, but I can directly feel the power of expression and singing that I cannot feel in dramas and movies.
In particular, two main points impressed me in this film.
The first was the difficulty of having two people, a man, and a woman, play the role of the robot "Tang," and the difficulty of having not only the voices but also the sound effects of the movements come from actual mouths rather than from mechanical sounds.
The most impressive part was the movement of the "eyes" by the dialogues and scenes.
It was impressive to see the robot come to life in real-time.
Secondly, while musicals are a one-shot show with no repeat performance, in this production, one person was able to play multiple roles. The cast was small for the number of scenes and roles, and each scene's dialogue and role creation was superb. The production staff said this was deliberately staged to represent the main character Ben's worldview.
In addition, many other qualities are unique to musicals and to this production.
It will be performed at the Kyoto Theater until April 16, and after that, it will be performed nationwide from May, so please check it out.
