今日のボヤキはとてもラフな話題です。
都会ではなかなか見かけませんが、田舎では必須の「トンネル」。

トンネルの中にはこれでもかというぐらいにライトが両側上部にびっしりとありますよね。日中でも、夜間でも点灯されていますが、すべて点灯しているのを見たという人はあまりいないのではないのでしょうか？
トンネルの中ではヘッドライトをつけなければいけませんし、日中であればトンネルを出た瞬間は目が外の明るさに順応するのに少し時間がかかります。
「トンネルの中の照明全部点灯させれば？」と思ったりもしますが....
NEXCO中日本に聞いたところ、次のような回答でした。
「トンネル内の照明をところどころ消して、外の明るさと近くなるように調整しているからです」
つまり、わざと消しているわけです。暗いところから急に明るいところに出て、まぶしく感じることなどないよう、目の順応に配慮しているのだとか。
トンネル照明は集中的に管理されており、たとえば明暗の違いを感じやすいトンネルの出入口部か、中間部か、あるいは外の天気や時間帯によっても点灯パターンが異なるといいます。
ちなみにトンネル照明は入口の方が明るく、内部に進むにつれ暗くなります。
晴天時など屋外が明るいときほど、トンネル入口も明るくしているようです。
なるほど..と感じる一方、本当に？と感じたりもします。
外の明るさよりも明らかに暗いトンネルあるよね....。多分、皆さんも思い当たるところがあると思います。
AIが発達していく過程で、それぞれのトンネルに自動センサーが導入され、リアルタイムで今よりもドライバーに負担がかからないようなものが開発されるといいなと思います。実際、トンネル付近での事故は多いので、車を運転する際はお気を付けて＾＾
