今日のボヤキは私のちょっとした野望についての話です。
私が大学の志望動機に話したことがまさにこのことで、地方は地方のままで価値を見出して発信していけたらと思います。
そのためには、やはり他との「差別化」を重要視しなくてはなりません。
「地域再生」というよりは、「再発信・再発進」という言葉の方が合うのではないでしょうか？

「ひとりずっと黙って話を聞いていらした方が、おもむろに口を開かれました。『俺はな、去年、今年とこうして話を聞いていて、身につまされた。俺んとこの息子はもうここに帰って来ないと言っとる。家も田んぼも、ほんまにどうなるんだと思っている。そんな中でこうして家業を復活させて、地域のことを思ってこうしたいと言ってはる。俺らはどうしたって、先にこの世からいなくなる。先立つ俺らがこんな風にチャレンジしようと言っている人を止める権利があるのか、そう俺は今、思てるで』と言ってくださったのです。
会場全体がシーンと静まり、この瞬間に私は、地域が課題を自分事化したと感じました。もちろんその場にいた全員の心に響いたかといえばそうではなかったので、自治会の承認を受けるまでには至りませんでした。
ただここからは変化がありました。『自分はこんなことをやっているけれども、君の活動に生かせるか？』などと声をかけてくださる人がポツポツと現れ始めたのです。そして3年目に、『農泊事業の採択を目指しており、このを活用しながら、多くの人に認知される場所を目指していきます』と訴えて、具体的な事業の内容なども説明しました。ここまで来てやっと会場は温かく見守ってくれる雰囲気となり、ついに自治会から承認を受けるに至りました」
やはり、今の生活を守りながら地域の魅力を体感してもらうことの難しさがあるように思います。他の場所からの人が増えることで、治安、公害問題など様々な心配要素が増えるのは確かですが、どこまでリスクを軽減し、地域存続につなげていくのかが問題です。
私には、祖父からかねがね言われていた言葉があります。『人の喜ぶことをしてあげなさい』『人にちゃんと感謝しなさい』『大人になったら地域に貢献できることをしなさい』という3つです。醤油のことはまったく口にしなかった祖父でしたが、この3つの事は本当によく言っていたなと思います。その言葉がいつしか私の胸にしっかりと根を下ろしていました。
私も同じように考え、地域の良さは「人同士のつながりが強い」ということだと思います。その良さであり文化を体感してもらえるプログラムをぜひ考えたいものですね。

One of the people who had been listening quietly for a long time opened his mouth. One person, who had been listening silently for a long time, opened his mouth and said, "Last year and this year, I listened to your story and it really hit home for me. My son says he will never come back here. He's wondering what's going to happen to our house and rice fields. In such a situation, he is reviving the family business and saying that he wants to do this for the community. No matter what we do, we will be gone first. What right do we have to stop someone who wants to take on a challenge like this?
The whole hall fell silent, and in that moment, I felt that the community had made the issue their own. Of course, it didn't resonate with everyone in the room, so it didn't get the approval of the community association.
However, there was a change from here. People would ask me, "I'm doing something like this, can you apply it to your activities? And then, in the third year, I was asked to participate in an agricultural project. In the third year, I explained the details of the project, saying, "We are aiming for the adoption of the farm stay project, and we will make use of this project to become a place that is recognized by many people. After all this time, the atmosphere in the hall became warm and welcoming, and we finally received approval from the residents' association.
After all, I think there is a difficulty in having people experience the charm of the community while preserving their current lifestyle. The increase in the number of people from other places will certainly increase various concerns such as public safety and pollution issues, but the question is to what extent we can mitigate the risks and ensure the survival of the community.
There is a saying that my grandfather used to tell me: "Do what makes people happy. My grandfather always told me three things: "Do things that make people happy," "Be grateful to people," and "When you grow up, do something that contributes to the community. My grandfather never talked about soy sauce, but these three things were really important to him. Those words took root in my heart.
I think the good thing about a community is that it has strong ties with other people. I would love to come up with a program that would allow people to experience that goodness and culture.
